Andrew George MP Calls on the Government to Give More Powers to Cornwall

by STILDS on July 27, 2010

Andrew George is calling on his fellow Cornish political leaders to come together with a demand for more powers to be handed to Cornwall from central Government, following last weekend’s Cornish Constitutional Convention Conference in Truro.

The St Ives MP said the Conference – at which he was a key speaker – brought together many new ideas to take advantage of the opportunities the Government has created as a result of the abolition of a number of regional quangos.

He believes opportunities exist for greater influence over the Duchy’s economy, planning and development, health and social care, housing, low carbon economy and renewables, social and welfare policy and transport.
