Mary McWilliams Wins Redruth Town Council By-election for Liberal Democrats

by STILDS on July 30, 2010

Mary McWilliams won yesterday’s Redruth Town Council By-election for the Liberal Democrats.

There was a 10.8 per cent turn out and Mary McWilliams polled 427 votes, against 139 for her Labour opponent. The election was for a vacancy in the South ward of Redruth Town Council and was a gain for the Liberal Democrats.

The new Redruth Town Council member said she would work with local police to help make Redruth a safer place; that she was keen to encourage more healthy eating outlets and activities for young people; and that she would campaign for lower parking charges and better public transport locally.
